– Accessible Media Inc. (AMI) announced today its lineup of blind reporters who will be heading to London to cover the 2012 Paralympic Games August 29th through September 9th.Carrie Anton
has been a reporter with AMI since March, 2011. No stranger to excitement, Carrie’s assignments have included participating in a car race for blind drivers and sailing around a lake in a specialized boat. A former Para-athlete herself, Carrie won gold in Paralympic Goalball at the Sydney 2000 Paralympic Games.Gary Steeves
, a longstanding reporter for AMI based out of Vancouver, works closely with BC Blind Sports and was recently appointed Vice President of the Board for Courage Canada. Gary was instrumental in providing comprehensive coverage for AMI of the 2010 Vancouver Paralympic Games. He will be joined in London by his guide dog, a Standard Poodle named Bogart.
"This is a tremendous opportunity for AMI and we are thrilled to be part of the consortium of Canadian media heading to London to support our Paralympic athletes," explained AMI Vice-President of Programming and Production, John Melville. "Our corporate mandate is to make all media accessible to all Canadians and there is no better way to put this into practice than by providing described video options of the Paralympic games to our blind and low vision community."
AMI’s countdown to the 2012 Paralympic Games continues with the second installment of AMI-tv’s original mini-series, Milestones of Champions: The Journeys of Canada’s Paralympians. Episode two, featuring profiles on wheelchair rugby veteran Ian Chan, wheelchair basketball superstar Patrick Anderson, and Para-cycling Super Athlete Robbi Weldon, will air at 7pm EDT on Thursday July 26th.About Accessible Media Inc.
