About AMI-audio

AMI-audio is the world’s largest broadcast reading service making local, national and international news and information accessible. Daily, our volunteers read and record current articles from leading newspapers and magazines, which are broadcast on TV and online into more than 10 million Canadians homes.  Together, our staff and volunteers produce and broadcast more than 125 hours of new programming every week. AMI-audio can be accessed through cable, satellite and the internet to more than 10 million Canadian homes.

What can I do to volunteer?

AMI-audio operates with the support of our dedicated, volunteer readers, who generously donate many hours of their time so blind, low vision and print-restricted Canadians can get the most comprehensive, daily print media coverage available. Volunteer readers are welcome at all of our offices across Canada.

Marika began volunteering at VoicePrint way back in 1996, and true to form for our Volunteers, she will read anything. Her favourite programs are The Lighter Side and Pet World. When asked for an interesting fact about herself, she replied with a glint in her eye and an unmistakable laugh: "Although I have been using my mouth for the past 38 years as a teacher, I really love to work with my hands – knitting, crocheting, painting, making jewellery and baking some of the best shortbread.
