AMI appoints new Accessibility Officer

Accessible Media Inc. announced today the appointment of Chris O’Brien as the organization’s Accessibility Officer.

The Accessibility Officer role was introduced back in 2014 to further maintain and establish AMI as a leader and standard bearer in media accessibility by setting and influencing accessibility standards and best practices, shaping organizational policies and practices, and influencing the development of technology and industry solutions that contribute to creating an inclusive environment both internally and externally.

“I’m thrilled that Chris has accepted this important role,” says David Errington, AMI’s President and CEO, “He joined the AMI family back in 2013 and has been an instrumental technical and accessibility resource for development projects throughout the organization. His tireless contribution to the creation of the AMI-player back in 2014 was invaluable. I’m confident he will represent AMI well in the accessibility community.”

Chris is a seasoned IT professional with more than fifteen years’ experience and was recently recruited by the Assistive Technology Industry Association (ATIA) to fill the position of Accessibility Strand Advisor. In addition, he also acts as AMI’s liaison to the International Association of Accessibility Professionals (IAAP) where he sits on numerous committees, including the Leadership Council.

Chris assumes his role as Accessibility Officer effective immediately and will report to David Errington.
