AMI celebrates Aboriginal Day 2017

Accessible Media Inc. (AMI) announced today that both its AMI-audio and AMI-tv channels will participate in this year’s Aboriginal Peoples Television Network (APTN) Aboriginal Day Live celebration.

AMI-audio will be on the ground broadcasting live from The Forks in Winnipeg, Manitoba June 21, from 3 to 7 p.m. ET joining in festivities happening all day long. Listen for interviews with event organizers, community members, performers and artists. Hear dynamic performances and learn more about the unique heritage, diverse cultures, and outstanding achievements and contributions of First Nations, Inuit and Métis Peoples.

“AMI is thrilled to participate in this annual event as part of our collaboration with APTN,” says John Melville, VP of Programming and Production at AMI. “Through our partnership and mutual commitment to foster inclusion, we will make this celebration accessible to people across Canada by offering our audience a front row seat to the event that includes fully described sound and colour of what’s happening at the Forks.”

2017 marks the fourth year that AMI-tv has partnered with APTN to celebrate Aboriginal Day Live. This year marks the largest celebration of National Aboriginal Day in Canada’s history, as eight cities across the country host performances that will be broadcast live. Tune in for seven hours of live described programming from coast to coast from 7 p.m. to 2 a.m. ET.
