AMI-tv to air new original documentary exploring the Yukon territory

Accessible Media Inc. (AMI) announced today that it will air a new original documentary called Postcards from the Yukon on AMI-tv on Sunday, August 27.

Join AMI This Week presenter Dave Brown and Lawrence Gunther, North America’s only blind professional angler and host of Feel the Bite TV and the Blue Fish Radio show, on a sensory tour of this historic Canadian territory. With stops in Whitehorse and Dawson City, Dave and Lawrence learn all about the unique tastes, smells and sounds of this remarkable destination.

“AMI is committed to telling stories and sharing information from across the country,” says Senior Producer Michelle Dudas. “Postcards from the Yukon is a colourful travel documentary that highlights a selection of what makes the Yukon special. With the help of rich description, the audience can feel like they’re enjoying this adventure alongside Dave and Lawrence.”

Highlights from the documentary include: cuddling 20-day-old Alaskan Husky puppies at Muktuk Adventures, fishing on the pristine waters of Fish Lake, meeting celebrated chef Karina Lapointe for some wilderness fusion cuisine, and voyaging down the Yukon River with Tommy Taylor – the only First Nations tour operator in Dawson.

In order to be accessible to the blind and partially sighted audience the documentary features Integrated Described Video where natural ambient sound is incorporated along with descriptions from hosts and guests at the productions stage.

Will Dave Brown catch his first fish ever? Will Lawrence Gunther reel in an arctic grayling that’s high on his bucket list? Is there any gold left in the frigid waters of the Bonanza River? Tune in Sunday, August 27 at 7 p.m. ET and PT for Postcards from the Yukon. The full documentary will also be available online at ami.ca after the initial broadcast.
