Busy mom learns the importance of loving yourself and self-care on Mind Set Go

With the summer looming, and the self-analyzing that may come with it, self-criticism and self-doubt can creep in.

That’s exactly what happened to Jaime, a mother of three. With one of her sons on the Autism Spectrum and with Tourette syndrome—and herself battling high blood pressure, obesity and depression—Jaime realized she needed to make a change. Not only for herself, but for her family. So, when she came across a casting call on Facebook for an opportunity to change her life, she took the plunge and applied. That call was to be a participant on AMI-tv’s third season of Mind Set Go

Anaïd Productions, which makes Mind Set Go, reached out to Jaime to hear more of her story, and she had her reservations. Jaime ultimately decided to allow cameras into her life, as felt being watched would give her a sense of accountability. For Jaime, it wasn’t so much about losing weight as it was becoming healthier and changing her mindset.

“It was a learning experience to realize how little I value myself when it comes to life,” Jaime recalls.

Paired with Paralympian Stephanie Dixon for most of filming, Jaime also worked with fellow Paralympian Michelle Stilwell. Jamie says that when first met Stephanie, it was as though they had been best friends their whole lives.

“Meeting Stephanie, this experience changed the way I am and how I live,” Jaime says. “I am more outgoing now, as I used to be quite reserved.”

Jaime’s final challenge was to run 15 laps around a track which, at a glance, seemed as though it would be easy. Once she got on the track and saw how big it was, self-doubt crept in. Jaime began running and, with motivation from her family and Stephanie, Jamie was able to push through.

“My experience with everyone was so positive,” Jaime says. “It was a fantastic experience, but it wasn’t easy.”

Season three of Mind Set Go returns Wednesday, April 1, at 8 p.m. Eastern on AMI-tv. Catch up on past seasons on demand at AMI.ca or using the AMI-tv App.
