Meet Laura Vinson

Laura Vinson

Laura Vinson was born in Edmonton and raised in the small town of Brule, near Hinton, by her Cherokee, Irish and English father and her Cree, Iroquois and French mother.

Laura is an award-winning singer-songwriter and is well known in Indigenous communities and the music industry. She majored in art and drama with a bachelor’s degree in education. Laura is not only an artist, but also has a heart for artists!  This comes from her own experience as a performer and her love for her sister Noreen, who had a disability and recently passed away. Throughout her life she passionately shared her artwork despite any challenges she faced.

Laura is using this opportunity to tell positive stories about the lives of Indigenous artists. There’s no sugar coating here, that’s not Laura’s style. She let's people tell their own story and, when she is able, gives them a helping hand.
