Operations Specialist, Toronto

We are currently looking for an Operations Specialist to join our Programming and Production team in Toronto. Under the leadership of the Director, Content Distribution, this role will maintain the continuity of AMI’s broadcast and digital presence, programming, production and content development requirements by providing technical leadership, training and assistance to all the Content Development teams.
Duties & Responsibilities
• Manage the technical efficiencies of AMI’s three broadcast channels by ensuring 100% uptime and escalating any transmission issues and long-term changes to BDU’s.
• Oversee testing and deployment for all cloud applications and workflows to ensure optimal efficiency on linear and non-linear platforms.
• Maintain the media asset management (MAM) environments, broadcast & digital trafficking, metadata naming conventions and ensure that the data on all AMI media storage platforms is managed in accordance with set policies and procedures.
• Maintain and update AMI’s Technical Specifications and Delivery documents.
• Provide training and ongoing evaluation of programming, production and MarCom staff who are engaging with internal systems and external platforms to ensure secure, appropriate use of internal infrastructure and licensed cloud-based systems.
• Provide content operation support to the AMI-tv, AMI-tele, MarCom and the AMI-audio programming and production teams.
• Collaborate with project teams on continuous improvement initiatives, working with Programming, Production and MarCom colleagues on alignment of workflows, content management and content output.
• Deploy to remote sites (AMI host homes, remote live shot locations) to troubleshoot, correct, replace, or repair, equipment associated with production related issues.
• Manage day-to-day relationships with QMS, Corus Master Control (CMC), Ingest and all cloud-based application providers.
• Ensure compliance of the external video and audio producers and freelance creators, by working with AMI staff producers and editors to adhere with AMI delivery requirements.
• Monitor change control processes in conjunction with QMS. CMC, and Technology Services to minimize service and/or workflow disruptions.
• Work with the Software Developer to build and maintain efficient content workflows for non-linear platforms (AMI+ mobile/web, YouTube, Roku, others TBD).
• Maintain professional and technical knowledge attending workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, and benchmarking best practices.
Requirements:
• College Diploma in Television Broadcasting or related Video Production Program or equivalent experience.
• 3 to 5 years’ experience in a broadcast operations environment.
• Detailed knowledge of broadcast operations and the systems required for delivering, receiving and broadcasting video and audio content including high proficiency with optimum video and audio levels, quality control, and general television broadcast technical standards.
• Significant working knowledge of DAM, metadata requirements and taxonomy, file-based workflows and general familiarity with IT best practices.
• Good understanding of multi-camera switchers signal routing, camera and audio equipment, scopes, current editing hardware and software, video effects generators, Non-Linear Editing system software; Adobe Creative Suite, Adobe Premiere, graphics applications such as Adobe After Effects, Photoshop and Illustrator, and Pro-Tools audio editing software.
• Exceptional communicator and team player. Ability to work collaboratively.
• Strong organizational and planning skills. Ability to perform multiple tasks, schedule priorities and meet deadlines.
• Bilingual French/English is an asset.
