Long Distance Love Laid Bare

Authored on October 7, 2021

This month on Into You, we dive deeper into the science of long-distance dating as Fern chats to psychologist, relationship coach and family therapist, Elena Semenek.

Elena explains why someone may be drawn to a long-distance relationship, the hardest part about being so far away from your partner from a psychological perspective, and shares her six stages of long-distance relationships. Down-to-earth, honest and passionate, Elena's words will help you to decide whether long-distance love is the right thing for you or someone you care about.

This is invaluable advice for anyone considering far-flung romance - or (as always) anyone fascinated by dating dynamics in general!

Long Distance Love

Authored on September 2, 2021

On this month's Into You, we're asking the question, "Does absence really make the heart grow fonder?" as we find out what it's like to be in love with someone who lives far away from you.

I chat to Leo (from France) and Kyomi (from Peru), about the long-distance relationship which started when they met via a language exchange app called Tandem. Leo and Kyomi share what it was like when their first meeting was rudely interrupted by the pandemic and how they kept their long-distance love alive during lockdown.

I also speak to Grace, a YouTuber from Taiwan, who has had three long-distance relationships and shares her roller coaster journey to happiness, and gives advice about what you should consider before jumping into "this kind of sweet nightmare."

So grab your map and get ready to go the distance as we find out what love is like when your partner lives half a world away!

The Science Behind A Toxic Mind

Authored on August 5, 2021

In the final of our three-part series on domestic abuse, Fern speaks to psychologist and researcher Dr. Dina McMillan to uncover the science behind toxic relationships.

Dr. Dina shares why people become abusive, what to look out for in a potential partner and offers some tips and tricks she has used in dating in order to avoid getting involved with an abusive person.

Dr. Dina's passion for spreading the message about abuse and helping people find happy, healthy relationships is infectious and her insight into the psychology and dynamics behind domestic violence is invaluable.

All that and more on this month's Into You. This is an episode not to be missed!
