Meet Rachele Manett

Rachele Manett

Rachele Manett (they/she) is a queer and disabled sexuality educator and certified therapeutic recreation specialist (CTRS). She is the education coordinator at Venus Envy Halifax, an education-based sex shop and bookstore, where they organize and deliver workshops, lectures, trainings and other educational programming and events about sex and sexuality.

Rachele has a Masters degree from Dalhousie University, where her research focused on acquired physical disability and sexuality. Through this research, it became clear that resources on sex and disability are few and far between, and now the majority of Rachele’s work focuses on finding, creating and sharing resources on this topic!

Rachele occasionally teaches for Dalhousie in the Recreation and Leisure division of the School of Health and Human Performance, runs sex education training for professionals working in the disability sector, guest lectures in classes, conferences and other events on topics related to sexuality, and offers consultation from time to time. This is Rachele’s first time hosting a show for AMI, and it’s been a super cool experience to add to the many other things she does.
