AMI-tv announces exciting new fall programming schedule

Accessible Media Inc. (AMI) revealed its schedule for the 2018 fall season, boasting a lineup of compelling new and returning AMI originals, exciting programs available for the first time ever in described video and perennial favourites.

AMI This Week kicks off its seventh season on September 10 at 8 p.m. ET. The weekly magazine show, co-hosted by Anthony McLachlan and Victoria Nolan, continues its distinct community focus, sharing events and interesting stories from coast to coast.

AMI original productions are the centrepiece of the schedule, with Season two of the award-winning Employable Me, the debut season of dating series There’s Something You Should Know and new episodes of Season two of Eyes for the Job, which moves to a new night and timeslot. New local original documentaries under the Our Community banner explore Friendship Circle of Montreal, a non-profit organization that provides support and inclusion to individuals with special needs; and visit Tim Doucette, a blind astronomer who built Deep Sky Eye Observatory in Nova Scotia. 

Let AMI-audio’s Mike Ross and Joeita Gupta get your day started as Live from Studio 5 moves to a new platform as part of AMI-tv’s mornings later this fall. More information on Live from Studio 5 will be revealed in the coming weeks.

Returning favourites to AMI-tv consist of Law & Order: SVU, Suits, Heartland, Murdoch Mysteries, Matlock, Monk and Schitt’s Creek and Kim’s Convenience, which are broadcast in a back-to-back Canadian comedy block on Friday nights. 

New additions include two Golden Globe and Primetime Emmy-winning series available in described video for the first time ever. Breaking Bad—starring Bryan Cranston as high school chemistry teacher-turned-methamphetamine dealer Walter White—will be broadcast. The Shield, with Michael Chiklis playing corrupt Los Angeles police officer Vic Mackey, leads into Breaking Bad. The two acquired series, along with Drug Wars, comprise AMI-tv’s “Crimetime Fridays.”

“I’m so proud of our primetime schedule,” says John Melville, Vice-President, Programming and Production, AMI-tv. “From Employable Me and AMI This Week to Kim’s Convenience, Breaking Bad and The Shield, we’ve got a well-rounded, diverse, competitive group of series to offer new and long-time viewers.”

Other newly-acquired dramas include the New York Fire Department series Rescue Me, co-created by and starring Denis Leary; the private investigation drama Hack, with David Morse and Andre Braugher; and the Tom Selleck drama Blue Bloods.
