Position Title: Summer Student – AMI-tv – Toronto (ON)

An exciting opportunity awaits one media broadcast student who has a passion to make a difference! AMI-tv’s Programming and Production Department has a summer student opportunity available to assist the Post Production team and provide relief during vacations. The position will be a three-month contract starting in June of 2019.

Responsibilities:

Audio Post Production

•    Completes the post production audio requirements for AMI original content by selecting music, sound effects, assembling and mixing elements, processing audio channels and mastering a final mix.
•    Verifies accuracy of Descriptive Video (DV) recordings by comparing the voice track to the script and producer’s notes, matching description to time codes, identifying and initiating corrective action of any anomalies.
•    Completes the DV editing function by placing described audio on the video through synchronizing time-codes and visual references. 
•    Ensures AMI’s quality standards of output by mixing/adjusting audio levels of the soundtrack and recorded description. 
•    Creates single-track of DV mix combining described audio and original sound track into presentation file.  Includes re-mastering original source tape and backing up work files.

Video Post Production

•    Presents visual stories with maximum effect by selecting and combining the most effective shots, into sequences and correcting errors using editing tools. 
•    Packages video content, programs, interstitials and promos by editing video, dialogue, music and sound effects and by rendering graphics and animation elements. 
•    Sets up and operates non-linear editing systems, graphics, video switching and digital video effects in order to produce a final product. 
•    Prepares media for import, encoding or digitizing to Non-Linear Editing system and digital media platforms. (MPX, YouTube, etc.)

Requirements:

•    Enrolled in post secondary media/broadcast program
•    Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, Outlook and Internet
•    Working knowledge of audio editing software, e.g., Pro Tools
•    Working knowledge of scopes, current editing hardware and software (Adobe Creative Suite, Adobe Premiere) and software, video effects generators as well as general television operational procedures.  
•    Exceptional interpersonal, written/verbal communication and grammatical skills
•    Strong research, planning, creative and organizational skills 
•    Experience working with volunteers or the public would be an asset
•    Experience working in a live television broadcast environment an asset
•    Excellent attention to detail
•    Bilingualism (English/French) is an asset
